Frequently Asked Questions

1.) Question: I took classes years ago and I want to take more classes, where should I begin?
Answer: If you have been decorating cakes over the years and are “in practice” then you can pick up where you left off. In other words if you have already taken Cake Decorating I, you could begin with Cake Decorating II. On the other hand if you have not stayed in practice or done any decorating over the years then it would be best for you to begin with Cake Decorating I again. The Wilton Method of Decorating classes are constantly being updated. New techniques, products and class books are available and many new materials have been created. Be honest with yourself, it’s to your advantage to take classes that you can keep up with and learn new things in!

2.) Question: I took classes at another store and now I want to take classes at Cake Crafts, do those classes that I took at another store count as prerequisites?
Answer: If the classes you took somewhere else were Wilton Method Classes and you have taken them within the last year then yes those classes taken elsewhere can be considered your prerequisites as long as you are still “in practice” – see answer to question #1 above.

3.) Question: Can children take Cake Crafts classes?
Answer: Generally no. We request participants be 18 years or older for our classes. Is some cases, a student who is very mature and somewhat practiced may attend a class with the instructor’s permission.

4.) Question: What happens if I sign-up for a class and cannot attend?
Answer: If you let us know at least seven days prior to when the class begins we will transfer you to another class of your choice or give you a full refund whichever you prefer. If you cancel or request a transfer within seven days of the beginning of a class you forfeit your class tuition. Paid tuition guarantees a seat in class therefore class fees are not refundable due to a student being a “no show” on the day of class.

5.) Question: What is the “Wilton Method of Cake Decorating”?
Answer: The Wilton Method of Cake Decorating began in 1929 and started with age-old cake decorating traditions enhanced by constantly developing and refining creativity. It continues today with Wilton’s philosophy that learning is best achieved through class participation. Wilton provides ongoing instruction for Wilton Method Instructors who attend regular training to improve and expand their skills and advance the Wilton Method.

6.) Question: What is the 10% Student Discount?
Answer: While attending one of our classes, you can come early or shop after class. When you come to the register, tell the clerk that you are attending a class and you will receive a 10% discount on your entire purchase (excluding class tuitions).
